Forget True Detective or Sherlock Holmes or whatever. The Angel Bay Files isn’t your typical noir thriller TV show. It follows Detective Finn, who is… a fish of some kind. A brownish-orange one. When the mayor’s wife declares him missing, Finn takes the case.
Written, directed, and created by Shawn Orr & T.K. Lynch, the short is funny, and done so well that it’s hard to imagine how many takes it required to get the fish to do all this stuff. The best part is how often the fish are taking craps during the takes. The sets are intricate and well-designed for something placed in an aquarium and you can tell a lot of work was put into this really weird little thing.
